If a CCMEP participant is enrolled in a short-term (i.e., several months) apprenticeship program that is conducted outside of a reasonable commuting distance can CCMEP cover the cost of room and board?

Answer:

For WIOA Youth, this is allowable but check local workforce policy for any local limitations. For TANF, this is allowable as long as it is listed on the IOP, removes a barrier to assist the participant while participating in the program, meets at least one of the 4 TANF purposes and is not “TANF Assistance.” There is a four-month limitation in place for supportive services for TANF funded participants who are unemployed. 45 CFR 260.31

Are participants required to be enrolled in CCMEP & OWCMS if they are only participating in a separate completely TANF funded summer youth employment program? Can CCMEP funds be used to hire a tutor to help a participant failing a class? Can CCMEP funds be used to pay for classes that do not immediately result in an industry recognized credential?
