New Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC) program

New federal legislation created the Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC) program for individuals who are eligible for traditional unemployment benefits but who also have documentation of at least $5,000 in self-employment earnings from the most recent taxable year prior to their unemployment benefit year. Those eligible can receive an additional $100 per week for all qualifying weeks between December 27, 2020, and March 13, 2021. Claimants who are potentially eligible for MEUC will receive a notification with instructions for how to apply.

Treasury Offset Program

If you receive an unemployment insurance overpayment because of unreported or underreported wages/earnings, you must repay that debt to ODJFS within 60 days. If you do not, the overpayment will be reported to the Ohio Attorney General for collection, and any federal income tax refund owed to you could be intercepted.

Always correctly report your wages/earnings in the week in which they were earned. If you have questions, call your assigned processing center or (877) 644-6562.
