Report on Receipt of Benefits While Under Hardship

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is required by ORC 5101.80 (11)(b) to submit a semiannual Receipt of Benefits While Under Hardship report to the General Assembly. This hardship report contains counts by county and month of recipients who have reached their Ohio Works First time limit and have continued to receive benefits under one of fifteen possible hardship categories during the reporting period; in addition, it includes total monthly hardship extensions by category and statewide. It also contains the percentage of county caseloads comprised of hardship cases; each county has a monthly hardship extension ceiling that is equal to 20 percent of the previous federal fiscal year’s average monthly caseload for the county.
