Communicable Disease Training for Child Care Program Personnel

Communicable Disease Training for child care program personnel working in licensed child care programs is required by  Ohio Administrative Code rules 5101:2-12-10 and 5101:2-13-10.

  • Trainers who conduct communicable disease training for child care providers must meet the qualifications stated in OAC rules 5101:2-12-10 Appendix A and Rule 5101:2-13-10 Appendix A. Trainers must be a licensed physician, registered nurse, or an authorized communicable disease trainer from an approved health organization that specifically provides Communicable Disease training.
  • The only approved communicable disease curriculums are the Common Childhood Illnesses for Child Care Centers (Approved Training Curriculum developed by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Ohio Department of Health) and communicable disease training classes offered by an approved health organization.
