ODJFS to gather input on child support guidelines at Westerville forums

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is hosting two public forums in Westerville to gather input on the guidelines used by county child support enforcement agencies and the judicial system to determine child support payments. The forums will be conducted Nov. 13 at the Westerville Public Library, 126 South State St., from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Every four years, the department is required to review these guidelines to determine if any additions, deletions or clarifications are needed.

"Public input is a vital part of the evaluation process," said Tom Hayes, ODJFS Director. "We need to hear from all parties impacted by these guidelines to help us determine if any changes should be recommended."

These are the last of 20 public forums held across the state to gather feedback about the effectiveness or shortcomings of the guidelines. Comments will also be accepted through the Internet at jfs.ohio.gov/csguidelines/feedback.xml. The department will incorporate the input from the forums and website into the final recommendations to be presented to the General Assembly in March 2005.
