Ohio State Fair hiring will continue through the end of the fair

More than 1,000 positions, ranging from food service to midway games, are available for Ohioans 16 and older at the Ohio State Fair. The 2000 Ohio State Fair is celebrating it's Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) and will run Aug. 4 - 20. The fair features a spectacular midway, big-name entertainment, hundreds of exhibits and youth participation that leads the nation.

People looking for extra summer income or temporary jobs in the fun, exciting and family-oriented setting of the Ohio State Fair are invited to visit the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Employment Trailer on 11th Avenue, west of the Ohio gate at the Ohio Expo Center. ODJFS employment specialists will review applications and refer applicants to employers there from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. from now until Aug.20. The ODJFS Employment Trailer will only be open on weekends after July 31.

"Despite low unemployment in central Ohio, we know there will be applicants looking for additional money and the fun of working at the Ohio State Fair," said ODJFS Director Jacqueline Romer-Sensky. "We want to help all fair employers and concessionaires find workers for these jobs."

Job-seekers should bring two pieces of identification, which may be an Ohio driver's license or state ID and a Social Security card. Job-seekers under age 18 should bring an Ohio driver's license, state ID, school records or report card, along with a Social Security card or a copy of the birth certificate.

ODJFS services also will be available for fair employers at the Employment Trailer from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekdays only until July 31, and every day Aug.1-Aug. 20. Interested applicants can contact David Smith, ODJFS State Fair Coordinator, at (614) 644 -4734.
