How to Post a PERM Job Order

An employer is required to place a job order with the State Workforce Agency serving the area of intended employment for a minimum of 30 days.  The posting can be placed by the employer or their authorized legal representative.  Ohio Foreign Labor Certification strongly recommends the employer obtain a prevailing wage determination from the U.S. Department of Labor before entering a job posting.

The State of Ohio provides two methods of job placement:
       ·    Employer-placed Posting
       ·    Staff-assisted Posting

EMPLOYER-PLACED POSTING
It is not mandatory that an employer register to file a job posting.  Go to https://ohiomeansjobs.com/omj/.  Click on Job Post.

General Information
In the box under General Information, the e-mail address of the person entering the job posting must be placed in the field entitled, “E-mail Address”.  After the job posting is saved, a system-generated confirmation will be e-mailed to that address.  The confirmation e-mail must be read in its entirety, and instructions must be followed, before the job posting is released to the internet.  This confirmation e-mail will also provide instructions to follow if the job posting needs to be modified.
Yellow box:  An e-mail must be provided in this box to continue with the job order placement.
Employer Name:  Enter the business name of the employer
Employer Job Title:  Enter the employer’s job title (not necessarily the O*Net Title)
Start Date:  Date the job order is to open (It takes 24-48 hours for job postings to be released to the internet, so we recommend the Start Date equal the entry date plus two days)
Close Date:  Date the job order is to close (a minimum of 30 days)
Job Type:  Foreign Labor Certification
Is this a Green Job:  Choose “Yes” or “No”
Desired Skills/Duties:  Place the employer’s job duties with any special requirements the employer may have.
Salary:  At least the amount shown on the Prevailing Wage Determination
Education Level:  Select minimum requirement
Work Days:  Mark each day of expected work
Work Shift:  Select one
Duration:  Select one
Worksite Zip Code:  Zip Code of work site, not necessarily employer’s address
Contact Name:  Name of hiring authority
Preferred Method of Direct Contact:  Choose one

Before saving the job posting, review the information for accuracy.  After you click “Save”, a Job Post Complete screen will appear.  We strongly recommend you click on “Print this Job Post” to ensure you meet your requirement for proof of filing a local job order.

The employer is responsible for tracking the job referrals.  The State of Ohio has no way to track referrals for job postings.

IMPORTANT:    An e-mail address must be placed in the E-mail Address field in the box under General Information.  The system-generated confirmation e-mail received at this e-mail address must be read in its entirety, and the directions must be followed, to have job posting released to the internet.  The system-generated confirmation e-mail will also provide instruction for modifying the job posting.  Remember, it can take up to 24-48 hours for the job posting to be displayed online after the job posting is released by following directions in the system-generated e-mail.

STAFF ASSISTED POSTING
To file a staff-assisted job order with Ohio, the employer and/or legal representative must contact a One-Stop Center in the area of intended employment.  To obtain contact information, please go to the map found at http://jfs.ohio.gov/owd/wia/wiamap.stm and click on the work site county.  When contacting the One-Stop Center, asked to speak with an Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS) Customer Service Representative.

When requesting the job posting:

          ·  Have the employer’s Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) and Unemployment Compensation
              Account Number (UCAN) available.
          ·  Job Order must be listed as “Alien Certification” job posting
          ·  Job Order must remain in “Open” status for at least 30 days (to prevent the job order from closing prior to
the deadline, we recommend that the job order request the number of openings requested plus 10 referrals)
          ·  Job Order may show the legal representative as the contact person; and,
          ·  Job Order must show the option for the “Public Disclosure” field as “Full”
