Excellence & Outcomes

To meet the continuing challenges for workforce development within the State of Ohio, the Office of Workforce Development (OWD) tracks the progress of the state workforce system and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs and funding.  OWD tries to ensure that every citizen receives the highest quality and most innovative services possible.

Gold Standard One-Stop Certification - The Gold Standard is Ohio's certification and continuous improvement program for One-Stop Career Centers.  The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that the employment and training services provided to the public and businesses through the One-Stop System meet two objectives: a consistent level of quality across the state and on-going efforts to achieve a higher quality level through continuous improvement.

WIA Allocations & Expenses - WIA funding is allocated according to a formula. Timely expenditure of WIA funds indicates that local areas and the State of Ohio get funds into the hands of citizens to assist them in finding a job or a better job.

WIA Program Performance - Common Measures are an integral part of workforce performance accountability systems in multiple agencies of the federal government.  One value of Common Measures is the ability to describe the following core purposes of the workforce system:

  1. How many people found jobs?
  2. Did those people stay employed?
  3. What were their average earnings?
