Benefit Payment Control Section
The BPC/Investigation Section detects and investigates improper unemployment compensation payments and gathers evidence to determine if an overpayment exists. When overpayments are detected, determinations are issued assessing administrative penalties and requiring benefits to be repaid; criminal prosecutions are pursued against flagrant violators. Assists in the recovery of unemployment compensation overpayments and investigates forgeries of unemployment compensation warrants.
Compliance Section
The Compliance Section assures adherence to unemployment tax provisions. The section provides assistance to anyone who has questions regarding unemployment compensation tax; audits records of employers to determine compliance with the unemployment compensation law; locates employers to assess and collect delinquent taxes; collects money and penalties owed by employers; and when needed, serves subpoenas to non-complying customers.
