Beginning January 1, 2018, employers are required to submit their quarterly reports electronically. Please review the various options employers have to submit their quarterly reports electronically. In addition, the Employer Resource Information Center (ERIC) allows employers and third-party administrators to manage all their business related to unemployment contributions online, including registering new businesses, filing quarterly reports and making tax payments.

ERIC – Employer Resource Information Center

ERIC Online – Recommended for less than 250 employees
When you file your tax return using the online function, ERIC populates previously reported employees and wage data. When you enter wage information, ERIC automatically calculates the taxable wages and contributions (taxes) due for you, eliminating many common calculation errors. Using the online option reduces your tax return preparation time. Please visit https://eric.ohio.gov to enter your quarterly reports online.

ERIC Import Spreadsheet – Recommended for up to 500 employees
The import spreadsheet option allows employers to import from an Excel spreadsheet or .csv format, the wage detail information in to the online functionality. Once the information is imported, ERIC will automatically calculate the taxable wages and contributions (taxes) due for you. You can then make the payment online. Please visit https://eric.ohio.gov to learn how to import wage information for quarterly reporting.

ERIC Upload File – Recommended for more than 250 employees
Employers and third party administrators can upload data directly in to ERIC. Doing so greatly reduces the possibility of errors and allows for faster, more efficient processing. Files must be in the ICESA format. Click here to learn how to create and upload a file: JFS 07150 Employer's Guide to Electronic UI Tax Filing.

ERIC Quarterly Wage Reporting Tool (QWRT)
The Quarterly Wage Reporting Tool (QWRT) can help employers and third-party administrators create a file in the acceptable ICESA format that can then be uploaded into ERIC. The tool allows data to be entered offline and then uploaded in to ERIC all at once, in minutes. Please visit http://www.jfs.ohio.gov/ouc/uctax/quarterlywagetool.stm for more information on how to use the QWRT tool.

Ohio Business Gateway (OBG) - http://business.ohio.gov
The Ohio Business Gateway is another option available to submit current quarter unemployment reports and payments. OBG populates previously reported employees and wage data. When you enter wage information, OBG automatically calculates the taxable wages and contributions (taxes) due for you and provides payment options. Please visit http://business.ohio.gov to file using OBG.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) – Reporting no workers and no wages
Even if you had no employees and paid no wages during the quarter, a report indicating that you had no employment must be filed by the due date. For your convenience, reports showing no employment may be filed through the UC Tax Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system by calling 1-866-44-UCTAX (448-2829). To use the IVR system, you will need to have both your ODJFS employer number and your federal employer identification number (FEIN).
