|  | | Internal Security | | | | The Internal Security Unit is responsible for the
general management of Ohio Unemployment Compensation (OUC) Data
Security which includes the development and implementation of
security access policies based on federal security requirements and
standards (RIS Pub1075, NIST, FIPS). Internal Security staff
also act as the liaison with federal agencies (IRS, US Health and
Human Services, Office of Child Support Enforcement, US Social
Security Administration, US Department of Labor) and their
contractors. | | | | The Internal Security Unit monitors and verifies
the use of federal data to ensure usage meets the agency's security
requirements (administrative, physical and technical) and complies
with federal laws and guidelines. In addition, the unit
evaluates security of OUC information and the effectiveness of
security review tools to maintain the integrity of OUC information
security. The unit directs audits of controlled warrant stock
and regularly audits security access. The Internal Security
Unit also conducts internal investigations involving waste, fraud
and abuse within the unemployment compensation programs.
Investigations involve initial fact finding, conducting
investigatory interviews, report preparation, pre-disciplinary
hearings and testifying at State Personnel Board of Review hearings
and court proceedings. The Internal Security Unit works in
conjunction with ODJFS Office of the Chief Inspector, Ohio
Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol, as well
as, other law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations and
