services provided by a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) under the supervision of an RN, examples: G-tube feeding, medication administration, and wound care
  • Daily Living
help with activities of daily living provided by a home health aide or personal attendant, examples: bathing, dressing, grooming, and help with transferring
  • Skilled Therapies
services delivered by a licensed therapist: occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech & hearing therapy

Note: These Core Services are available to consumers participating in all Ohio Home Care benefit packages.

Limits
The Core Benefit Package limits services to a total of 14 hours per week of any combination of daily living and nursing. Skilled therapies can be delivered as medically necessary. Consumers who need more service hours or other kinds of home care services should explore the Ohio Home Care Waiver.

How To Get Services
To receive services under the Core Benefit Package you must have a Medicaid card (available through your county department of job and family services), a doctor's orders for the needed service/s, and a Medicare-certified home health agency that has a Medicaid provider contract and is willing to provide care. Your doctor will work with the home health agency to adjust your services as needed. For help locating a provider, please contact the case management agency for your part of the state.
