NF Room and Board Claims with Non-Covered Days
If you bill nursing facility room and board claims with non-covered days reported on the claim, verify the following in your claims before submitting.
Generally:
The claim-level charge amount is a total of the line-level covered days charge amounts. For non-covered days, continue to report a zero in the covered charges field and report the charges in non-covered charge field.
On the 837 Institutional:
The claim-level CLM02 charge amount is a total of the line-level SV203 covered days amounts. For non-covered days, a zero is reported in the SV203 and the non-covered charges are reported in the SV207.
