Transportation Training

Rules 5101:2-12-18.2 and  5101:2-13-18.2 state that all employees responsible for transporting children shall be trained by the administrator or designee, utilizing the curriculum developed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

  1.  The transportation curriculum has been sent to each licensed child care program.   The materials include:
    1. Driver handbook
    2. Slide show to be used in completing the training
    3.  Sample vehicle binder
  2.  All employees responsible for transporting children must complete the training annually.
  3.  All currently employed individuals responsible for transporting children shall be trained by January 1, 2009. Individuals employed after January 1, 2009 who will be responsible for transporting children must be trained prior to assuming driving duties.
  4. The training should be completed using the slide show on the disk.  Upon completion of the training the administrator should complete the JFS 1037 In-service Training Form and indicate it was competed as electronic media.
  5. Each employee who completes the training can receive up to 2 hours of in-service training annually.
