Ohio Medicaid Data

The Ohio Medicaid Data was created to increase access to Medicaid data.  The reports are structured into four defined data sets to allow easy access to Medicaid provider lists, eligibility, utilization, and expenditure information.  The result is intended to provide stakeholders with needed data based on a county level. This data can be used for planning, grant writing, and additional analysis.

Please select from the following data sets:

Eligibility Data

Eligibility Reports provides both statewide and county level Medicaid enrollment data.  The statewide summary eligibility reports outline Medicaid enrollment by age, program and waiver.  The county level report summarizes Medicaid enrollment by delivery system, enrollment category, age, race and living arrangement.  The enrollment categories have been carefully created to provide the most requested enrollment information.

Provider List (Fee for Service)

Provider Reports contain fee for service (FFS) provider demographic information on a quarterly basis. These reports are a list of active providers who had a claim enter the Medicaid FFS MMIS system within the specified time period of the report.

Provider reports are broken out by: facility, pharmacy, professional, sister agency and waiver. The provider types that are included in each of these reports can be found in the first tab of each report. For ease of use, the professional and waiver provider reports are broken down into regions.

NOTE: The first available active provider list is from CFY 2010 Quarter 3.

Expenditures

Expenditure reports provide both statewide and county level Medicaid expenditure data for both fee for service and managed care patient populations. The fee for service reports account for service categories by the number of claims paid, the number of providers paid, and the net payments.

The Medicaid managed care expenditure reports are different, these reports outline the capitation payments made to the managed care plans. Please note that the categories of service have been grouped to provide the most requested types of information.

Expenditure reports for waiver and sister agency services are currently being developed and are not included in the fee for service expenditure report.  These reports will have the same layout, methodologies, and reporting data as the fee for service expenditure reports.

NOTE: The expenditures reported are solely based off Ohio Medicaid claims payment data accessed through an administrative decision support system. These payments do not constitute a comprehensive financial statement of the Medicaid program as they exclude all administration and some provider related transactions processed outside of the claims processing system. These payments also cross multiple state agencies that serve the Medicaid population.
