5010 News Updated

On August 2, 2011, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) implemented the new Medicaid Information Technology System (MITS) which replaced and upgraded the legacy MMIS.  Details are being finalized for the implementation of HIPAA version 5010. ODJFS will provide this information to trading partners as soon as details are available.  More information on 5010 can be found at http://jfs.ohio.gov/OHP/5010.stm

ODJFS is counting down the days to HIPAA Version 5010 implementation on January 1, 2012!  There are only 55 days left to comply with CMS requirements.

11/1/2011 - November 5010 Information Release
Please be reminded 5010 implementation is right around the corner! In order to be ready for the January 1, 2012 implementation, it is recommended you begin testing no later than December 12, 2011.

9/30/2011 - 5010 Testing Begins October 18
In preparation for the January 1, 2012 implementation of HIPAA 5010, ODJFS will begin
accepting test files on October 18, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. In order to meet the deadline for
January 1, 2012 we ask that you begin your testing no later than December 12, 2011.

9/15/2011 - 5010 Testing Notice
On January 16, 2009, Health and Human Services published a final rule adopting X12 Version 5010 for HIPAA transactions. The compliance dates for Version 5010 for all covered entities, is January 1, 2012. As you are aware Ohio Medicaid recently replaced its 20+ year old Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) for claims processing with the new Ohio Medicaid Information Technology System (MITS). MITS is also compliant with the CMS 5010 implementation date of January 1, 2012.

9/6/2011 - 4010 Cutoff
ODJFS is actively planning for the transition from 4010 to 5010, with implementation in production scheduled for January 1, 2012.  If you are interested in becoming a Trading Partner ODJFS will no longer accept applications for certification for X12 HIPAA EDI transaction in the 4010A1 version effective September 22, 2011.

9/1/2011 - Letter From John McCarthy, Medicaid Director
The CMS 4010 version of HIPAA standard transaction sets expires on December 31, 2011. Action is required by all current participants in the electronic data interchange (EDI) process, which will be effective January, 1, 2012.
