The Ohio Children's Trust Fund's Everyday Hero Award Nominations

This April, the Trust Fund is continuing its efforts to raise the awareness of the frequency of child abuse and child neglect cases in the state of Ohio, while also promoting the fact that all Ohioans can act to prevent abuse. The statistic of confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect is unchanged and in Ohio there is a substantiated and indicated report of child abuse or child neglect every 30 minutes. Therefore, in April 2018, the Trust Fund is promoting its call to action that all adults can be #30MinutesHeroes for children and families in need.

The OCTF and our regional partners are recognizing those everyday heroes from around the state of Ohio. This year, we are seeking nominations for the Everyday Hero Award in recognition of individuals who dedicate their time, efforts, or lives to preventing child abuse and neglect.  Additional information on the award and eligibility requirements are in the attached The Everyday Hero Award Nomination Form.

Help us recognize a child abuse and neglect prevention hero in your community by nominating them for the Everyday Hero Award using the nomination form below.  The OCTF is accepting nominations for the Everyday Hero award through February 16th, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.  Winners will be announced in March and recognized during the OCTF’s April Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month Campaign Kickoff Event on April 5th.  If you have any questions, please contact octf@octf.ohio.gov.

The Ohio Children's Trust Fund's Youth Art Contest

Beginning February 5, youth organizations, classes and sports teams of public, private, community and charter high schools and career-tech centers, as well as youth engaged in after-school programs and non-profit organizations are invited to enter a youth art contest to spread awareness about the importance of child abuse and neglect prevention and possibly earn monetary awards for their schools. The contest is sponsored by the Ohio Children's Trust Fund (OCTF), which is housed within the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  To enter, groups of students simply need to submit by March 9 a powerful and creative drawing or canvas painting; clay work or 3-D sculpture; or photography that raises awareness of the importance of child abuse and neglect prevention and how anyone can be a hero in the eyes of a child.
