Each April, the Ohio Children's Trust Fund (OCTF) launches a statewide campaign to raise awareness that April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month. While the OCTF's main goal is to prevent child abuse and neglect, it is critical to our mission that Ohioans recognize this first as a problem across the state. In the most recent fiscal year, 17,418 substantiated or indicated reports of child abuse and/or neglect were recorded in Ohio. That equates to a substantiated or indicated report roughly every 30 minutes.
This April, the Ohio Children's Trust Fund is excited to launch its #InTheNext30Minutes campaign. This statewide awareness campaign encourages individuals to reflect upon the simple acts of kindness that take less than 30 minutes and that support families and encourage the safe and healthy development of children. All Ohioans can play a role in preventing child abuse and neglect through simple acts, such as mentoring a child, providing a meal to a family in need, holding a crying baby, etc. Through this campaign, we are asking Ohioans to show their support of child abuse and neglect prevention by pledging how they will complete one simple act that takes 30 minutes or less to help another family or child, and posting their pledge on social media with the hashtag, #InTheNext30Minutes.
To join the OCTF in this statewide awareness campaign, please pledge your support of families using #InTheNext30Minutes and post to social media by tagging the Trust Fund on Facebook (Ohio Children's Trust Fund), Instagram (@OhioCTF) and Twitter (@OhioCTF). We also encourage you to tag your friends and ask them to pledge their support of families using #InTheNext30Minutes on social media within 30 minutes of your post!
