WELCOME!

Welcome to the Ohio Migrant Reception Center. We hope your visit is as pleasant and productive as possible.

The Migrant Reception Center provides temporary housing for migrant agricultural workers who are in transition from either their homes or from one job to another. The Center also assists the workers in securing employment.

The Migrant Reception Center is operated by Rural Opportunities, Inc. during the harvest season which is April through October. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For those families who arrive after office hours, maintenance personnel are on call at the Center 24 hours a day.

The Center staffs bilingual personnel to help with job placement and referral services.

Other social service agencies offer additional services to aid migrant agricultural workers during their stay at the Center, such as food pantry, legal services, emergency services, etc.

Overnight lodging is available for a maximum of 72 hours.

Cooking and lodging facilities are available. A recreation hall, ball field, and playground are all located on the Center grounds. Public telephones can be found in the recreation hall.

During your stay in Ohio, if you have any questions or complaints regarding social service education programs, state and federal laws, or your job or housing conditions, the office of the Migrant Agricultural Ombudsman offers information and referral assistance. He can be reached by calling the toll free number, 1-800-282-3525.
